JAMMU, May 26: FCS & CA Director Jammu Dr Naseem Javaid Chowdhary today conducted surprise inspections of Fair Priced Stores (FPS) to verify compliance with guidelines and standards by FPS dealers in Jammu District for the delivery of food grains under the public distribution system.
He was accompanied by Deputy Director Dr Javed Iqbal Rather, Deputy Director Jammu Rural-II Vipan Bhagat and other officials from FCS & CA. The manager visited the government grocery store in Bishnah and the adjacent fair-price stores to assess the implementation of Aadhaar authentication online via electronic point of sale (PoS) machines installed in each price store. fair and the implementation of Aadhaar seeding, especially through electronic PoS machines.
During the verification, Chowdhary also ordered the relevant officers to take the necessary steps to ensure the proper functioning of the FPS and immediately take the necessary steps to display the food grain stock outside each SPF so that each beneficiary know the availability of food grains in the fair price store concerned.
He further asked the relevant officers to ensure that all prescribed information is displayed on the tables of all FPS as no laxity will be tolerated on the part of “wandering” FPS dealers. He ordered officers to make surprise visits more frequently and ensure all COVID-19 SOPs are followed while providing the ration to beneficiaries.
The director was also informed by the support team that, within the framework of the public distribution program, the government manages two large programs named National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalayaan Anna Yojna (PMGKAY) and more 80% of the food grains were distributed in the two systems throughout the Jammu division.
