Woman accused of armed robbery in convenience store

A Timmins woman was arrested in connection with an armed robbery that took place at a convenience store on Algonquin Boulevard early Sunday morning.

Police said the woman entered the store, pulled out a gun, and demanded money from the seller.

The suspect then fled on foot with an undisclosed sum of money.

Responding Timmins Police officers located the suspect at a Wilson Avenue address and found her in possession of the weapon used in the robbery.

The suspect, who is already known to the police in previous transactions, was arrested and taken into custody.

Following the incident, McKenna Nakogee, 19, of Timmins was charged with:

• Robbery with violence contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada;

• Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada;

• Possession of property obtained by crime contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada;

• Carrying a concealed weapon contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada; and

• Three counts of failure to comply with a release order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

She was being held Tuesday pending the results of a scheduled bail hearing in Timmins Provincial Court.
